Is my website a mobile friendly one ?

Webestro Mobile Friendly

I am getting so many news from here and there regarding the mobile friendliness of the website. Is my website a mobile friendly one ?  Will it impact my current business in case if it is not ?

Well , Yes it can impact! here is the google update.

“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”

What Google is telling us is that mobile-friendly and mobile-responsive websites will be rewarded with better positioning in Google’s mobile search engine results, and thus more traffic from a rapidly expanding user base. Conversely, websites that are not mobile friendly will see less mobile organic traffic, receive a smaller piece of the expanding mobile pie, and will be forced to rely on a shrinking desktop-based audience.

For websites that are not currently mobile-friendly but are on a platform that has good options (WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify and BigCommerce, for example), the changeover may be relatively painless and inexpensive. For websites that are old (2011 or earlier) or on a legacy system, now is the time to commit to the site rebuild that has been pushed down the priority list for months or years.

While the catalyst for change is the ability to compete for mobile organic traffic, there are numerous benefits to re-theming a website for a mobile audience, including a better user experience, longer time on site and higher conversion rates. Businesses may be pleasantly surprised to find that the cost of migration is recouped by a mobile audience that engages more, inquires more and buys more.

Site owners can look for the massive mobile migration process, Yes it’s time to migrate!

Pick Up The Right Web Host

Know Your Own Hosting Needs

You can never get the right web host without knowing what you need. Forget about our general list of top 10 web host for a while and think thoroughly on your own needs.

  • What kind of website are you building?
  • Do you need Windows applications?
  • Do you need a special version of software (ie. PHP)?
  • Does your website need special software?
  • How big (or small) can the web traffic volume go?

These are some of the basic questions to be answered. Have a plan with your website and try figure out what will happens next for the next 12 months.

For newbies, the general basic rule is to always start small with a good shared hosting account. A shared hosting account is cheap, easy to maintain, and sufficient for most new sites. Plus, you can always upgrade to VPS or dedicated hosting in the later stage when your site grows bigger.

Server Uptime Record

Nothing is more important than having a 24×7 operating web host. You need a web host is operating on a powerful server and stable network connections. 99.5% and above is the recommended uptime score; anything below 99% is unacceptable.

Email@yourdomain.com

If you wish to host email accounts together with your website, then you should look at the email feature before signup. Most hosting companies will come with the ability to host your own email (something like email@yourdomain.com) but hey, it’s always better to check and be sure of it, yeah?

In case email feature is not provided, no big deal. There are a number ways you can own an email account at your own domain (email@yourdomain). Google Email Apps, for example, is a free and easy one.

Renewal Prices

Hosting deals, shared hosting especially, are normally selling very cheap on signup prices but charge much higher on renewals. It is an industry norm. Unless you are willing to switch host every two or three years, there is no way to avoid the high renewal prices.

In general, we think any price tag below $10/mo is acceptable but you might have a lower tolerance. So, to avoid any unpleasant surprise, you should check the TOS and make sure you are okay with the renewal prices before signup.

Site Backup

There are times when a site crashes. Perhaps a hacker got into your WordPress blog and replaced your index.php file, or your entire database got nuked, or the server had a severe hard disk failure.

If your web host does site backups regularly then there is nothing to worry about when these incidents happen. Your hosting provider should be able to restore back your full (or at least, a big chunk of) site in no time.

On backups, here are a few key questions to ask your web host:

  • Does your web host provide full backups regularly?
  • Can site backup be done easily via the control panel?
  • Can you create auto backup your site easily via cron job or other program?
  • Can you restore your backup files by yourself easily (so you don’t have to wait for the support staffs to do it for you during disaster time)?

I am not 100% sure if the idiom is right for the title but I think you get what I mean. When you are choosing a hosting provider, remember that what you want is to pick up the right web host. It’s not about finding the best web host in the world; rather, it’s about finding the hosting service that suits your needs.

The Final Logo for Maher Hackers

This was the selected logo among the collection that we have designed for the Maher Hackers. The logo concept that best communicates the brand and its story will be selected and finalized. Many technical considerations factor in to the final design: everything from how the logo will be used to the size at which it appears will play a role. A well-crafted logo will accommodate many different applications, and often will require multiple versions to suit different uses. A consistent, recognizable visual identity helps establish a strong brand story—and an even stronger customer bond.

It’s all started with a Redbull and Pencil

Yes, we don’t have a big story of webestro with us! It’s all started with a Redbull and Pencil. There were no capital to start a business on our own and was really struggling for finding money to invest in the business. We had only our brand name and logo with us for the marketing, not even had web hosting server with us for the web business. Finally we got a small project to start with for showing 100% of creativity that we were claiming.

webestro-startup

In those days it was very difficult to share everything through LAN since everyone was working independently using their own data cards. But luckily we could able to integrate everything scattered over here and there into a single project. OMG! We have done a rocket science in few weeks. We have done that project with the maximum perfection from our side and got our first payment of 5000 Indian rupees (Around today’s $80).

We bought a small hosting server and started selling that server space for some of our friends who madly needs some web space for hosting their internship projects. Gradually money started flowing into the business than we expected. Unlike dividing the entire money in the very same instant we decided to invest the same in business itself for a long term profit, nothing! We bought a slightly bigger server for our customers that made them happy better than ever (Not in doing business with us but got better service for a cheaper price).

Through our hard work in marketing the brand values, somehow we managed to get some 10 to 15 web projects and couple of logos in the timeframe. Hurray! There we made our initial milestone of the brand. From there we started our much stable journey to the world of web.
